Crumbs of Life

Hi guys! June here, nice to meet you & welcome to my very first blogpost! It's been close to 3 years since I've started Cookie Crumbles, and I figured it might be time to share more about my day to day as well as a little bit of back story. So come along with me on my writing journey, and I hope you'll enjoy reading Crumbs of Life :)

Birth of Cookie Crumbles

I founded Cookie Crumbles, a home-based bakery, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Back then, i was working full time and pursuing my degree part time at a local university. Life was hectic but i enjoyed the busy-ness of it all. When the lockdowns occured, i found myself feeling pretty bummed out. I had always been a social person, not much of a homebody. So being forced to stay home and "do nothing" was really boring. I started trying my hand at baking and soon found it to be something new and exciting. Friends and family loved my bakes and spurred me on to start selling them.

Pouring hours upon hours into a craft i had no prior knowledge or training of, the learning curve was steep to say the least. I recall baking two different batches of my Signature Chocolate Chip Cookies and feeling so confused as to why one of the batches tasted as if something was "missing". I couldn't figure it out, i could've sworn i followed the recipe exactly! It look me 3 days of back and forth to realise that there was a difference between salted and unsalted butter HAHA!

Despite the challenges of starting a business during a global crisis, I remained hopeful and persevered with the love of those around me. I quickly discovered a passion for baking and began exploring new recipes in my free time. Encouraged by friends and family who were impressed with my concoctions, I decided to take the leap to turn my hobby into a business. And so, Cookie Crumbles SG was born! Wouldn't have happened without all your love.

Next stage at Cookie Crumbles

Shortly after Chinese New Year 2021, I created a dessert line i coined Taro Delights. Inspired by the delicious taste of Orh Nee, a traditional Teochew dessert typically served only at weddings in huge portions, i wanted very much to bring Orh Nee into our everyday lives. Brainstorming the ideas and inventing convenient packaging was one thing, but getting the dessert right was another. After months of trial and error, i finally managed to develop something i was happy with. Thanks to Taro Delights, anyone can now enjoy the rich and delicious taste of Orh Nee, anytime and anywhere they want! Served in single-person serving cups, each dessert comes with a dash of milk and an option for ginkgo nuts, if you'd like them. Every cup is packaged beautifully, and topped off with a single boujee gold flake. Perfect for gifting!

If you have a craving for something sweet, come and indulge in our sweet treats at Cookie Crumbles. We offer a wide range of sweet treats that are sure to satisfy your taste buds. From classic brownies and cookies to the traditional Teochew dessert Orh Nee, we have something to suit everyone's tastes.
